Where did we start?

Coma Foundation was created by Luca Ficetola. He is a Law and French Honours graduate from the University of Essex and has a Masters in Law with distinction from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He is fluent in Italian, French and Spanish and is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

The information for this website has been collated through various medical sources, his experience with his mother Lorena and interviews with medical professionals.

Where it all began

Coma Foundations life began through a personal experience in particular an individual called Lorena Ficetola. Like other individuals who are in a coma or persistent vegetative state, their life before this phenomenon was normal until that one day.

Read about Lorena's story

While Lorena was in Coma, we were firm believers as a family that we could make a difference. Even though we wanted to help Lorena, we found no support from any organisation who understood what Lorena was going through and what we could do as a family to help her.

It is this reason that Coma Foundation was created, to fill this void and finally provide help to individuals who desperately want to help their loved ones.
